Celebrating the Christmas Howlidays ... and Contemporary Romance

Joyous Times In Wolf Peak Territory, Celebrating the Howlidays

Merry Season howls and yowls, shapeshifter lovers.

So then, the sands of time have been slip-slip-slipping away real fast. Thus, no regular posts for me. Plus, I just have all sorts of roadblocks happening that suck up all my time and energy. Its been total wacky-busyness in my household.

Yes, I have been working on a sci-fi erotic romance...but slowly.

Okay, here's the deal with writing a contemporary romance these days. While I could continue writing stories that take place in Wolf Peak Territory, because my shapeshiter and supernatural community could be located on a parrallel Earth ... sadly though, given the whole PC craziness around *what gender are you? Or, what gender will you be tomorrow?* happening in our world now ... btw, do you know in Canada that you can be thrown in jail if you don't use the correct GLBTQ, ETC. pronoun? ... imo, it's all madness ... be what you want, as far as gender, but show the tolerance you want to others who may not understand ... anyway to the point, how do you write a contemporary romance?

I have no problem with the whole gender fluidity thing, if that's your trip ... but who can keep track of the pronouns now required to be PC? Truthfully, I can't. Kudos to those authors who can!

Thus, I've come to the realization, the conclusion that I will most likely NOT be writing any paranormal contemporary romances. The exception could be a small isolated community/town *not* under the influence of the current Earth PC culture. I do have one WIP set in Wyoming. The story takes place in an isolated ranching/farming community that is actually an ET settlement since the 1940s. These ET humanoids love the cowboy culture and have arrived to help Earth humanity as much as possible.

But would I be condemned for writing a romance where women and men are just that, and there is no gender fluidity??? I have no clue!!! I have no clue if the story would be enjoyed by readers, or if complaints about me being racist, homophobic, etc. would be levelled.

WHATEVER... at this point, I have decided to world build other settings, or create OtherWorlds for my heroines and heroes where these complex and confusing gender issues ... well, aren't issues.
