Science has great news for bibliophiles who can’t quite get the same buzz from downloading an e-book onto their Kindle as they do from the purchase of a good old-fashioned paper novel.
Aside from the fact that Kindle removes the sensory experience of book-ownership - you can’t touch, flick through, even smell a Kindle book - a recent study has suggested that readers who attempt to absorb information from an e-book are less likely to remember facts that those who read the same information from the printed page.
The study, lead by Anne Mangen of Norway's Stavanger University, concluded that "the haptic and tactile feedback of a Kindle does not provide the same support for mental reconstruction of a story as a print pocket book does."

Earthfiles investigative reporter Linda Moulton Howe ~earthfiles.com~ discussed odd earthquakes and low rumblings that have been happening in the Cedarville and Mt. Lassen, California region; the 51st anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy; and a pregnant cow mutilation with a possible implant in the ear in a Missouri pasture, at the same time as a neighbor saw a beam of light extend down from a bright object in the sky. Linda detailed several reports of loud boom sounds heard around the country. People in the town of Cedarville have reported swarms of small earthquakes associated with ominous rumbling sounds and periodic unidentified aerial phenomenon.

Linda spoke with residents Curtis Rose, who described hearing the strange mechanical sounds and seeing red lights and orange orbs in the sky, and a woman named Cindy, who also witnessed unusual light activity. In an interview with writer for the Modoc County Record, Jean Bilodeaux, she described the strange aerial lights that have appeared over the town and how it seems linked to the low rumbling sound. "If you heard low rumbling, you knew lights were coming," she said. Bilodeaux also spoke about what USGS scientists are doing to monitor the mysterious seismic swarms happening in Cedarville and possible link to the Yellowstone hot spot. In her third report, Linda presented an interview with author Jim Marrs about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and how Lee Harvey Oswald may have been a fall guy for the CIA. "[Oswald] said, 'I'm a patsy,' which implies that he was set up take the blame for that crime and I think there is some pretty compelling evidence that he was probably telling the truth," Marrs said. Linda also reported on some high strangeness in Missouri, where a shocked ranch owner found the mutilated remains of his pregnant cow and a glowing implant in her ear. "He is convinced that specific animals are selected for a genetic harvesting and tagged with identifying implants similar to the concept of implants in human abductees, she revealed.

Bigfoot Update

In the first hour, researcher Rhettman Mullis ~bigfootology.com~ provided an update on the search for Bigfoot and the latest research in the field. According to Mullis, Bigfoot activity increases in the fall as the creatures move down to lower elevations to feed before winter. Apple orchards are a popular destination, he noted. Mullis announced Dr. Bryan Sykes' upcoming book, Nature of the Beast: The First Scientific Evidence for the Survival of Apemen into Modern Times, which delves into the DNA analysis of a mysterious hair sample. Mullis recounted the time he chased after a female Bigfoot as well as commented on those who wish to hunt down the supposedly aggressive creatures. Though there are rare examples of Bigfoot violence, it is almost always provoked, he explained, adding that numerous reports show them to be helpful and benevolent.

At first glance, the K5 security robot looks like a cartoonish Star Wars character.

A Little Something Different

at SHAPESHIFTER SEDUCTIONS ~

Late night mews, rambunctious and ravishing Kittens... much warmer temps on the tame prairie, twenty degrees warmer... but there was still a cold bite to the wind, and definitely a cold bite to the world these days... on her trek down to the mailbox, the Kougar first heard, then saw a small flock of robins high in a tree... and the cardinals seem to like the pet yard, swooping down often... could be the horsetail seeds... so, the usual stuff to get done today, all while trying to write.

Stay calm and clear, most darling kittens. The world is about to go all topsy crazy turvey... more so than has already occurred. And remember, this Big Cat loves ya!

A Little Something Different

Davis Patrick McGillicuddy III had been doomed to become cop by virtue of being a McGillicuddy. His whole family had been Boston cops for the last six generations, ever since the first McGillicuddy got off the boat in Boston Harbor back in the 1800s. His name alone might have been enough to brand him a Boy in Blue back then when the Irish mob was running the streets. If you were Irish, you were either going to end up living a life of crime or fighting it. By the time that stereotype died out, enough McGillicuddys had been cops to make it a firm family tradition.

Yes, last night broke the cold-temp record for this area. Oh joy... snarl and snark.

So, a couple of announcements. Once I get some time, I'll put the finishing touches on our ShapeShifter Seductions free read, LOVE TO THE RESCUE, and upload it  to Smashwords, etc. Serena Shay has designed a lovely and character-perfect cover.

Alright then, this week I'm offering what could be the first chapter of a Talbot's Peak erotic romance short story... that is, if my wonderful and wacky muse cooperates... and if life cooperates??? Yeah, who knows?

The Kougaress heard this amazing *take weapons away from the people* idiocy on one of the radio shows she listens to regularly. The caller was warning people to be careful about 'not' packing a slingshot in a bugout bag because they could go to prison if they're caught with said slingshot.

Okay, here's a possible solution. In one of the earliest episodes of the TV show, BEVERLY HILLBILLIES, Ellie Mae was up in a tree using a bra as a double-barreled slingshot... 'cause she didn't know what that particular garment was for, having been raised as a hillbilly. That was the sitcom joke. Anyhoo, there ya go. Experiment at will, and don't admit to using a bra like you would a slingshot. But just imagine Goliath running like hell as you aim that double-barreled baby... or, you can imagine the giant *wham-wham* getting struck, both eyes blinded, crushed by your good aim... and then 'timber' crashing to the ground so hard it causes an earthquake. ~yeah, tongue in cheek~ still...

Cold-brrrrr nighttime mews, fireplace-warming Kittens... bone-chilling cold today on the tame prairie and tonight the temps drop in to the single digits... yowling-yuck!... certainly way too cold for this time of year, and there's evidence HAARP is being used to bring in the BIG BAD CHILL... so, the Kougaress spent part of the day winterizing the house more than she already had, among all the other stuff she had to get done... and some good news for which this Big Cat is very, very grateful... for a long time she hasn't been able to get whole, farm-fresh milk... and she can't drink the stuff in the stores... well her neighbor knows a woman with a dairy cow, and the kind, kind neighbor brought a gallon over... yum! ... the taste is so rich and so good.

Weekender: The Rosetta Mission - Historic Moment or Monumental Cover-Up?

Back on September 29, a UFO Sightings Daily post titled: “NASA Records Radio Signals Coming From Comet 67P For Over 20 Years!” suggested that information had been received from an anonymous ESA whistleblower who confirmed in an email that the mystery signal was detected twenty years ago by NASA and this was the true reason behind the Rosetta mission. The post, written by Scott Waring, was broadly criticized at the time and generally debunked, but the ESA have apparently confirmed that Waring was right.
To add further weight to the conspiracy theory, a September 10 photo from the Rosetta mission showed what appeared to be a radio tower and a possible UFO on the surface of Comet 67P. This photo was one of a number referred to by the whistleblower, and suggests that a mystery really does hang over the purpose of the Rosetta mission. Popular conspiratorial opinion is that the tower-like object is the source of the radio signals and suggests that extra-terrestrial intelligence is involved. There has also been some conjecture that the amount of money invested in the project far outweighs the potential scientific benefits that can be achieved by the comet landing.
If the signal really was detected so long before the Rosetta mission was launched, was its real purpose to make contact? Is this why Philae has allegedly had so many problems, so that there is an excuse for the limited data that is being returned, allowing its real purpose to be disguised?

Afternoon mews, cuddled up Felines... so, a little before eleven am on Thursday, NO DIAL TONE... the Kougaress found out from the neighbor that centurylink had crashed bigtime! ... the neighbor had no internet, and this Big Cat had no landline... thus, her dialup was useless... then, nothing was fixed until around five in the afternoon yesterday... however, not for the Kougaress... she kept checking her outside phone box, one of them, and nothing but dead, dead, dead... this Big Cat didn't discover until late this morning that her second phone box was working... thank goodness! And she had enough phone cord stuff on hand to make that work... she'll be buying more, and more connectors... yeah, it's complicated because of how things were originally set up... but what a brain-hurting nightmare, for the most part, listening to regular radio talk shows... nothing but mindless jibber jabber ... nothing but useless, clueless drivel... except for a few bright spots... this one guy called up about how his father had been given a live goose in trade for a service before Thanksgiving... this was in ancient times, probably in the sixties... anyhoo, he didn't know how to dispatch the 40-50 pound goose... needless to say it was a horrific and a funny scene as the guy described how his dad fought with the goose for about half an hour before the inevitable happened... one of those you don't want to laugh but yet there is that absurdly comical aspect to it... so, anyway, the Kougaress is back and blogging in this polar vortex cold that needs to head on back to Santa land.

Stay warm, most darling kittens, and prepare for more communication outages like this because likely they're on the way.

A California witness at El Centro reported watching “an extremely slow moving” massive-sized UFO that seemed to be traveling along a “major corridor for UFOs,” according to testimony in Case 61325 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness was standing outside on a second-story balcony about 8:13 p.m. on October 24, 2014, and was looking into the eastern sky when the object was first seen.
“From my right, coming from the south, I first saw some kind of solid object moving extremely, extremely slow, moving northward,” the witness stated. “Once this object was in front of my field of view, I saw that whatever it was, was of a massive size.”

From COAST TO COAST AM ~ Alien Headstone in Aurora
According to a Dallas Morning News article, a cigar-shaped UFO crashed in the little town of Aurora, Texas in 1897 - that's 50 years before the Roswell Incident! The wreckage from this extraterrestrial vehicle included a tiny humanoid who, according to the reporter, was "not of this world." The strange event is also mentioned on the Texas State Historical plaque at Aurora Cemetery, where the mysterious creature was buried.
I live near Aurora and was fortunate enough to take several photographs of the alleged space alien's headstone before it was stolen last year.  I love Colorado. I was born here, grew up here and in Wyoming, lived in a few other places like Alabama and Hawaii, but ended back in Colorado. Here, I’ve stayed. Why? Because it’s like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get. Take this week for instance. On Monday in Denver, we hit our high of 53 degrees at 10am.
